Pluma Lodge Fishing Report October 6-12, 2019 This week we had nine guests: Enrique, Puma, Roman, Luis, Ruben, and Alejandro, six longtime Argentine friends; Will and Josh from the U.S.; and Neill from the U.K. Huge rains hit us on the first day, and we ended up with a flooded river for about a day and a half. There are only a few rods available for the upcoming season and if you have ever thought to fish this first-class river, there is the opportunity to get in. After the Gaula was closed for almost 14 days, everyone hoped for an August like last year. But also after a significant increase of the water level, the fishing was still very tough in August. Of course, some fish were caught on the NFC Beats, but compared to last year, the fishing remained difficult until the end of the season. We can only guess for what reason. There was less fish in the river this year, but also the higher temperatures until the last days of August did not make the fishing easier. In the last few days it has been raining in the Gaula valley and the water temperature dropped significantly. At the Eggafoss the water temperature was around 15 degrees. The water level at the Gaulfossen went up from 8.1 m³ / second at the to 17.6 m³ / second on 08.08.2019. It looks like the river will continue to rise in the next few hours. This positive development caused the river management to reopen the river on 09.08.2019 at midnight. In addition, the weather forecast looks very positive. It should continue to rain from Sunday evening, according to todays weather forecast we should get until Tuesday evening about 35mm of rain, for Friday the forecast promised 14mm, which hopefully sho... read more...
