After some high water in the beginning of July the water level is now constantly dropping. 17.07.2019 02.08.2019
In June the water level was relatively high and in the first week of July some more rain raised the river to more than 200 m / second at the Gaulfossen. So it was not really surprising that the new week started off very promising. Hernan Garcia landed a big fish of 99 cm and 10.5 kg/ 23.1 lb on Beat BS1. Unfortunately, the fish was bleeding heavily, so that Hernan had to kill it. Also Robert Ramisch was successful on Beat G1 and landed a grilse of about 2.5 kg/ 5 lb, which he released carefully.

The next morning Thies Reimers was able to land a nice fish of about 6 kg/ 13 lb on Beat B2. He also released his fish carefully. Despite the high water level and perfect conditions, it stayed calm throughout the day and it took until the next morning until Jean Luc Verstraeten could land the next fish. His fish from Beat B1 was 106 cm long and weighed about 12.5 kg/ 27 lb. Jean Luc released his fish carefully after taking a very quick picture.

The next fish was landed by Mark Fitzsimmons directly in front of the NFC Lodge. His fish was 99 cm long and Mark estimated the fish to weight approx. 10 kg/ 22 lb. He released his fish carefully.
Bruce Lindley was also successful on his first day. He decided to fish the Beat B2, which soon proved to be the right decision. After an exciting fight in relatively high water he landed a nice fish of 9.6 kg/ 21.1lb. After a quick picture Bruce released his fish carefully.

Only a short time later April Vokey managed to land a good fish after an exciting fight on Beat B1. Aprils fish was 100 cm long and weighed approx. 10 kg/ 22 lb. After a quick photo, April released her fish carefully.

The next day Mark Fitzsimmons landed a nice Grilse of 63 cm on Beat G1 and Thomas Mahnke caught a nice fish of 100 cm and approx. 11 kg/ 24 lb on Beat B1. Both fish were carefully released.

The next fish of approx. 6 kg/ 13 lb was landed by Jean Luc Verstraeten at the Lodge Pool. Also this fish was released carefully.

James Chalmers landed his first fish of the week at the Bua Bridge Pool. His salmon was 98 cm long and he estimated the weight to approx. 9kg/ 19 lb. After a very quick pictures James released the fish carefully.

Bruce Lindley returned to Beat B2 and proved once again that he knows this Beat very well. In his second session he landed his second fish at this Beat. This time the salmon was a bit smaller measuring 69 cm. Also this fish was carefully released.
April Vokey returned to her "favorite pool" B1 and it took only a few casts until April landed a really good fish. She could hardly believe what she was holding in her hands after an exciting fight. It was an absolute dream fish of approx. 14 kg/ 30 lb. April released her fish carefully after a quick photo.

Also, Alexander Basikov landed his next salmon. This time it was a female of 85 cm and approx. 6,5 kg/ 14.3 lb from the Lodge Pool. He released his fish carefully after taking a nice picture.

Also Thomas Mahnke landed another beautiful of 100 cm and approx. 10 kg/ 22 lb at the lodge pool. Thomas released this fish carefully after a quick picture.

Also, Tim Preston was successful on the lower Gaula. He landed a nice fish or 75 cm and approx. 4 kg/ 9 lb on Beat E1. Thies Reimers had a very good session at the Beat G1, landing a nice female of approx. 7,5 kg/ 16 lb and a Grilse of approx. 1,5 kg. All fish have been carefully released.
Fredrik Rexhammer started very successfully into the new week by landing a nice salmon of 69 cm on Beat A1. Also his fishing partner Andreas Ramsby landed a Grilse of 63 cm on Beat E1. Both fish were carefully released.
The next fish was landed by Nathalie Moriceau. It was a beautiful salmon of 100 cm and approx. 10kg/ 22 lb from Beat BS1. Also, this fish was carefully released after taking a quick picture.

Eric Soule landed his first fish of the week on the Beat BS1. His fish was 70 cm long and weighted approx. 3,5 kg/ 7 lb.

Andreas Ramsby landed his next fish on the Beat B1. His fish was 87 cm long and weighted approx. 6,5 kg/ 14.3 lb. He also released this fish carefully.

Also, the well-known fly tier Sacha Puetz, who visited the Gaula the second time this year, landed his first fish of the week at the Beat L1. Sachas fish was 84 cm long and weighted approx. 6,2 kg/ 13 lb. After a quick picture he released his fish carefully.

Also Manfred Raguse landed another fish. His grilse was 59 cm long and was carefully released.
Franz Hochecker from Austria landed a nice fish of 83 cm on the Beat G1, which he carefully released. Fabrice Bergues had a very good session on the Beat BS1. He landed two nice fish of approx. 6 kg/ 13 lb and 3 kg/ 6 lb. Also, he released both fish carefully. Sacha Puetz caught two more fish at the same day. One from Beat E1 and one from the Beat E5. Both fish weighted approx. 3 kg. He released both fish carefully. Andreas Ramsby landed another salmon of 88 cm and approx. 6,5 kg/ 13 lb on Beat E7a. Also, this fish was carefully released.

Nathalie Moriceau landed her second fish of the week on Beat E1a. Like always when the water level drops a lot, the lower Gaula Beats are always worth a try. Her fish was 85 cm long and weighted approx. 6 kg/ 13 lb. Also, this fish was carefully released by Nathalie.

Thilo Becker from Germany landed his first Atlantic salmon. His fish of approx. 4 kg/8 lb took a blue doctor on the Beat G1.
Fredrik Rexhammer landed his next fish of 81 cm on Beat E7a. also this fish was carefully released. At the end of last week some more grilse have been caught. Julien Sindou landed a grilse of approx. 2 kg/ 4 lb from Beat E1a, Andreas Ramsby one of approx. 2 kg from Beat E5, Fabrice Bergues one of approx.2 kg from Beat E4, Eric Soule one of approx. 1,5 kg from Beat E7, Jean Luc Pouillen one of approx. 1,5 kg from Beat E1a. All fish have been carefully released.

But also, some bigger fish have been caught. Sacha Puetz landed a nice fish of approx. 6 kg/ 13 lb on Beat A2, Fredrik Rexhammer had a nice fish of 84 cm on Beat E6 and Thies Reimers a nice fish of approx. 8 kg/ 17 lb on Beat BS1. All fish have been carefully released. The water level at the Gaulfossen is at the moment 28 m/second. It started to rain this morning and we hope that the river will come up.
